I am researching the Stephan, Gennoe, Cullis and Viney family trees.
In the most cliché of ways, I got interested in my family history because of the TV programme Who Do You Think You Are (WDYTYA).
Whilst the programme is always fascinating, it doesn't compare to making your own finds and digging up your own skeletons ... as many will appreciate, it's never as easy as it is made out on TV. Nevertheless, I love it!
My Grandparents all passed away before I was born or when I was relatively young and quite honestly I didn't care to know about all the old family members! However, in hindsight I wish I had sat down and listened to the stories, asked questions and digested more. Nevertheless, I tend to think that a lot of the stories you come across as a genealogist are those that family members would not have divulged, or certainly would have sugar coated in one way or another!
